To bring over Barcelona’s No. 1 cava to the UK with a launch campaign that positioned Codorniu as an aspirational, elevated brand, we came up with the concept of ‘Pura Barcelona’. And the idea of putting a girl in a bubble and floating her across the Spanish skies to UK shores.
The campaign idea drew inspiration from Melvin Sokolsky's 1960's shoot for Harper's Bazaar magazine by paying homage to his ‘Girl in a bubble’ series.
Captured by fashion photographer Taki Bibelas, the campaign straddled various media with platform native executions. The print ad took on the visual tone of a fashion spread. Online, our girl in a bubble ‘floated’ across the homepages of various websites as a digital takeover. And on telly, she came to life as TV idents sponsoring Channel 4’s Supper Club as a girl in a bubble transported across Mediterranean landscapes to Britain’s green and pleasant land.
